Building cash remittance tablet app for the last mile people A financial inclusion company likes to offer a truly satisfying special device tablet app experience to their customers. They approached with the challenge of creating their platform for Android, creating a simple and compelling experience for a user-base of over 1 million people.

Challenges

Frequency of landing on existing portal is only 20% compared to competitor’s portal. The overall user flow is bundled with too many stage gate approaches.

Insights

  • Plan to go ahead with unique identification method.
  • Ease design without much complication and complete transaction is carried away within 4 to 5 interactions with the portal.
  • We need to do very limited interactions and stage gate adhering to bank and RBI mandatory guidelines.

Knowledge is power

The first stage of the project was all about learning. We set out to learn all there was to know about field visits and user research about products in the banking industry and how we could help out our users.

Less is more.!

The original flow had a series of different screens for each of the main actions within the platform. What we did was group those actions by stages, resulting in a much simpler, smoother experience.

Within the application, design experience pages support easy flow and guide users by telling stories of innovation and secure transaction. These experiences focus on the usefulness and benefits each product series provides, de-emphasizing dry technical specs in favor of rich detail and interactive feature explorations.

Anatomy of the dashboard

In developing our redesign and subsequent application pages, we introduced and refined a new palette, along with typeface and iconography elements that further express product values.

As the product pages evolved, we achieved a balance between celebrating design challenges and touting technological advancements, further reinforcing brand promise.

We made modules upfront including enrollment for rapid fast access. It also gives brief agent dashboard. Simple yet information architecture bundled up in a strategic way.
